Heal and Restore Program (HARP)

Clinical Trauma Services

The HARP program’s mission is for students to reprocess traumatic events with a trained EMDR specialist to see a reduction of trauma responses such as poor focus, depression, anxiety, and somatic symptoms.

Target Population:
Students with trauma in their social history who are willing and able to engage in this type of therapy

Treatment Modalities:

  • EMDR*
  • TF-CBT**

Outline/Services of Program:

  • A personalized treatment plan is outlined in the eight phases of EMDR after an initial assessment takes place.
  • Delivered via individual therapeutic sessions with Kristen Brophy, LPC

*Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) uses bilateral stimulation to reprocess significant or traumatic events in a student’s social history. Bilateral stimulation allows students to revisit these upsetting events without activating their fight/flight/freeze response and develop a new narrative and belief system surrounding the traumatic event.

**Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents impacted by trauma. Research shows that TF-CBT successfully resolves a broad array of emotional and behavioral difficulties associated with single, multiple, and complex trauma experiences. TF-CBT focuses on cognitive restructuring to reduce intense emotions surrounding the traumatic event.
